History of android
Initially, Andy Rubin founded Android Incorporation in Palo Alto, California, United States in October, 2003. On August 17, 2005, Google acquired Android Incorporation. Since then, it is a subsidiary of Google Incorporation. The key employees of Android Corporation are Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Chris White and Nick Sears.
It was originally intended for the camera but later shifted to smart phones due to less market for the camera. Android is the nickname of Andy Rubin because he has a lot of love for robots. In 2007, Google launched Android Announced the development of the OS. In 2008, HTC launched the first Android mobile.
Where did Android come from?
It comes from Google, which actually acquired Android in 2005 (no, Google didn't invent it). Google updates it regularly with annual major updates.
The operating system is based on the Linux kernel - if you have friends working in IT, then you must have heard about it. It is a GNU / Linux operating system based architecture, which is a Unix type system (portable operating system, multitasking and multi-user). The Linux kernel is one of the most prominent examples of free software.
Why does android looks different on every screen?
Android does not look different on every device, but it has many different versions. Android is open-source, meaning that manufacturers are free to customize the software and make it their own.The 'pure' version of Android is often referred to as 'stock Android' and is often preferred by the Android community: it is native software by Google.
Other user interfaces (UI) include Samsung's TouchWiz, Sony's Xperia and Huawei's Emotion. See how they all look in our Android UI comparison.
What's up with the candy names?
Each new version of Android gets a code name based on consecutive letters of the alphabet. The latest version is known as Marshmallow because it is an Android M release. Previous versions include Lollipop, KitKat, Jelly Bean and Gingerbread.
Good things about android
Options, many options. With Android you have hundreds of gadgets at your disposal, the cheapest, most expensive and innovative. Android is also incredibly customizable, both at work and in looks. You can actually create a unique mobile experience for yourself with this OS.
Bad things about android
Receiving updates. In many cases manufacturers do not care about providing software updates for devices they have already sold to you. Even when they provide updates they take their time about it. This is why some people consider rooting: so that they can download and apply the update themselves, rather than having to wait for an update from the manufacturer to arrive.
